Can AI technology help grow multilingual learners’ future opportunities and their academic success?

This webinar digs deep into concrete and pragmatic ways to explore AI in the context of the ELD classroom: what is AI, what are some challenges and cautions around it, how can it work with ELD programs and curriculum, what can it do for educators, and most importantly, what can it do for multilingual learners (MLs).

Session outcomes:
• Participants will learn or review basic facts about Artificial Intelligence and learn about ways to narrow resources for tools that can augment curriculum and instruction for MLs.
• Participants will better understand the challenges and cautions around AI for MLs, but also hear about benefits and enhancements that are proving to work well for students across a range of proficiency levels.
• Participants will receive practical time-saving tips and strategies to foster success for students’ language acquisition and literacy development, as well as their own job roles so they can leverage opportunities for growth and success.

Learn About the Presenter:

Dr. Jenni Trujillo

Dr. Jenni Trujillo has worked as a bilingual multicultural educator for 25 years and has greatly impacted the education of multilingual learners (ML) across the nation, including newcomers from all over the world and MLs from indigenous populations. Her experience ranges from classroom teacher to EL/Bilingual director, college professor and dean, to curriculum developer and educational author. She has conducted multiple academic presentations promoting effective education of MLs at a variety of conferences at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels. Under her current leadership as Dean at the School of Education in Fort Lewis College, in Colorado, the school’s undergraduate teaching program has been recognized for being one of the best programs in the nation in preparing future elementary school teachers to teach children to read.
