Engaging in Difficult Dialogues in the World Language Classroom

Given today's pandemic and racial tensions, educators must be prepared to engage in difficult dialogues. If you are working with diverse students or teaching diverse content, this webinar will provide opportunities for you to gain tools to incorporate, facilitate, and manage content related to race, other social identities, history and current events that can be easily adapted for in-person or online teaching. You will also learn:

Dr. Krishauna Hines-Gaither taught Spanish and Latin American Studies for almost two decades. She currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. She is the Past President of the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina, past Chair of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL's) Special Interest Group for Educators of African American Students, and she co-founded African American Linguists. She was named the 2013 World Language Teacher of the Year in Higher Education by the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina. Dr. Hines-Gaither currently serves on ACTFL's Bylaws Committee. She is a frequent diversity trainer, presenter, keynote speaker and diversity consultant.
